Newsletter - Week 2, Term 4

Kia ora Waitetuna whanau,

Wow - what a spectacular trip we had yesterday. This trip gave us a wonderful opportunity to appreciate some impressive sculpture and be able to appreciate sculpture artworks from artists all around the world. We were so lucky with the weather. Thanks to Whaea Ali for making this day happen. I am certainly looking forward to the Raglan Arts trail over the long weekend also. The amazing range of artists in the Raglan community is fantastic. I hope you get to take the time to enjoy your whanau and some down time.

Kapa Haka Tutor - We had our first session with Merehia on Monday. It was great to see the students really persevering with their kapa haka skill learning.

I watched with interest Nigel Latta's latest series on parenting and the helpful, practical three simple parenting tips he reinforced during the episodes. It is always helpful to remind ourselves of these whether our children are two or seventeen. Here are the three simple ABC rules

  • Always remain calm

  • All behaviour is communication

  • Always have a plan

The staff worked with Office Max on Wednesday at our staff meeting and worked with a range of exciting new digital technology resources which we are looking into. These are a great way to supplement our great integration of digital technology in the classroom, whether these activities are plugged or unplugged. American Hot dog lunch - to help the seniors get to the Hillary outdoors cam, we will be doing a hot dog lunch, with gluten free and vegetarian options available, toppings - cheese, sauce and mustard. $3 If your child would like to order more than one can you please let the office know at least the day before so we can make sure we have enough. These will be for sale on Thursday 29th October Music lessons - if you are continuing with music this term can you please ensure payment for the term is made by 28th October.

Calendar art - you will hopefully have seen the order form for calendar art. Your child's art is in the office for your perusal. There are spare order forms at the office. These items make wonderful Christmas presents.
