Principal's Update

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, we have had so much positive feedback from other schools about the Inter School Cross Country event. I wanted to take another opportunity to thank everyone who contributed, in particular to all who helped in the food tent. Many of you worked throughout the time and managed to escape to see your children race but then carried on. Thank you!

Scholastic Book Fair/Book Week—we have a fun week planned for Book Week. You are welcome to join us on Tuesday for James Russell’s ‘The Dragon Hunters’ author visit. He is with the Year 3-8 students from 9.15am to 10.15am and with the Junior Room at 10.20am.

Dress up day on Wednesday for Book Characters and Booknic. Lunch sorted with Sausage sizzle or Samoas for sale. Bookathon– hopefully you have seen and heard about the Bookathon. Children are to be timed when reading so they can that clock up the minutes and the top 3 students in each class with the most minutes will enjoy morning tea with me. If you can please sign off times at home.

Ag Day 2026—our school Agricultural Day will be held this year on Tuesday 13th October and our Raglan Community Group Day will be held on Friday 16th October at Te Uku School this year. Your child can bring a lamb, calf, or goat kid to school and compete in the various events. Judges from the community come along to do this. Lorna will send out entry forms soon. You know you want to! The children learn lots of great skills looking after an animal.

Transpower representatives came back to work with the Senior Room to refine their solar and wind power generation design. Pictures on page 2. It is a great example of the Technology curriculum in action.

Enjoy a long weekend. Staff will be at school with Te Mata and Te Akau schools on Mon for further Maths learning on the new curriculum.

Ngaa mihi
