Kia ora Waitetuna whanau, We had fire service personnel join our school today to discuss fire safety. It was an important reminder for all of us to ensure everyone has a plan for getting out of their house in case of a fire. We encourage you to discuss this with your children and have a plan. Children learnt about staying low to get out and stay out!. To develop an Escape plan you can use this link - https://www.escapemyhouse.co.nz/
Dental service at Waitetuna School - the dental mobile unit no longer comes to Waitetuna School. Each child will receive what is called a ‘Call to service’. This is done by the Frankton clinic on the Frankton school grounds. They will invite you to an appointment. The year 8’s are on the priority list and should get a call-up before the end of the year. If you are not contacted or are concerned about your child’s teeth you can contact the dental service on 0800TALK TEETH (0800 825583).
Learning conferences next week - spaces are filling up so if you are yet to make a time please contact the office to do so. I will have some questions set up in the staffroom about our school local curriculum. If you could stop by before or after your children’s learning conferences to write your thoughts down, the staff and I would appreciate that. Remember the early finish on Tuesday/Wednesday - 4th/5th August - school will close at 2pm to allow a break for staff and sufficient time for learning conferences. I will provide supervision if you are unable to pick up your child early these two days.
Waitetuna Way awards this week go to - Ben Otton and Senna Valentin for your respectful manner at all times.
Waitomo trip As part of the Wai(Water) unit the Middle and Senior rooms are heading to Waitomo caves for guided tours around the Ruakuri and Glow worm caves. You will have received a separate notice home about this.
