Principal’s Update
Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, we have had a fantastic week with Whaea Abby and Harold joining us for Life Education learning. It is great to have Life Education with us for three days now. This al-lowed us to have the students working with two year levels. Doing this gave our year 7 and 8 students the opportunity to do the ‘The Great Brain Robbery’ programme—drug education including vaping. The Junior Room were sharing with me all about their learning about the body and the great brain foods. I will have to make sure blueberries, broccoli, bananas, yoghurt, fish, spinach, grains and popcorn are always on my shopping list.
The PTA have worked hard to start the year and have the raffle, likely to be the main fundraiser for the year, set up for us ready to sell! Thanks PTA. More information on page 3.
Garden To Table—Grow, Harvest, Prepare, Share—last year I shared that we had joined Garden To Table —an organisation that supports our ‘Community Foodbowl’ initiative with extra re-sources and support for the classes involved. Whaingaroa Enviro Centre had supported us with the funding of this. The Middle Room is involved the most, while the Junior and Senior Room do utilise these resources but to a lesser extent. There are great inte-grated activities that involve cooking the fruit and vegetables in different ways and enjoying the kai together.
The issue with the pool has been fixed and is being refilled. We will be getting the water chemical balance correct and we hope the pool will be open sometime next week. Thanks for your patience with this. And huge thanks to Richard for getting this back and up running.
We would also like to say welcome to our two new students - Noah in the Junior Room and Remy in the Middle Room. Happy school days.
Have a tumeke weekend. Ngaa mihi
