Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau,

What a Week! We've had an exciting week filled with engaging reading, writing, and maths learning in the classroom. A group of year 5, 6, 7 and 8 students celebrated everything great about reading representing Waitetuna School at the Lit Quiz in Hamilton on Wednesday. Well done to the teams for taking on this opportunity, doing Waitetuna School proud and a huge thanks to Matua Travis for making this happen. A huge well done also to our football teams for showing fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship at the tournament today! Thank you for your support of Pink Shirt Day—it was great to see everyone standing up for kindness. We have had lots of in class conversations reinforcing the important Pink Shirt Day messages. Next week is Book Week! We’re looking forward to celebrating all things reading.

Don’t forget:

- Book Character Dress-Up Day is on Wednesday—time to get those costumes ready! - Our Booknic (book picnic) is also on Wednesday at 12:30pm—families are welcome to join us for a cosy lunchtime read. Let the ‘Enchanted Forest’ bookish fun begin! Garden to Table—lots of fun and learning was had with Garden to Table on Friday, from practising their knife skills to preparing and serving the kai there is a great range of maths and reading happening in the Middle Room cooking sessions. Buddy Reading– with the dreadful weather on Friday afternoon the Senior and Junior Room we were able to have buddy reading. This is always a time we treasure, both getting a chance to read to each other. See you at the assembly on Friday 23rd May at 2.15pm

Ngaa mihi Amanda and staff
