Principal’s Update
Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, it has been another productive week. Students have been focused on understanding where they are at with their learning so they could share their celebrations and next steps with you at learning conferences this week. It was great to catch up with you all during this time and I appreciated the time you took to share your thoughts/ideas for us as a school. I will share these at the board meeting next week. If I didn’t catch up with you or you weren’t able to make it into the staffroom here are the two questions we were asking—What skills, experiences and opportunities do you believe are most important for our students to gain? This could be things we are already doing and something you want us to consider including. And question number 2—How can we further enhance our school’s physical spaces to further support learning, play and community connection? Please email through or catch me in person if you would like to share anything else. Thanks for your support with learning conferences this week and with our upcoming Inter School Cross Country event on Friday 15th August. The Senior Room have a planting day next Wednesday. A permission slip has gone out.
Picking up kids early—if you need to pick up your child early from school please pop in to the office to let us know. It is preferable that you record this in the sign in/out book.
Speech competitions—you may have noticed that our inter school speech events are on two separate nights. The Year 5 and 6 event is on Wed 27th August (note date change) for Year 5 and 6 students only—5.30pm and the Year 7 and 8 event is on 3rd Sept at 6pm. These events are for those students who get first or second in our school speech event on Monday 18th August. Parents are welcome to these events. An approximate timetable for the 18th will be out next week sometime. Welcome to Whaea Julia who has started in the Middle Room as a third year student teacher this week. This week the Junior Room celebrated 100 days of school so far this year. Lots of dress ups and of course some cake and many fun activities to acknowledge this day.
Term Dates for 2026 are on page 3 of this newsletter. Have a tino pai weekend. Ngaa mihi Amanda and staff
