Principal’s Update

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, thank goodness the weather was kind to us so the children could make the most of Wheels Week. We had a productive board meeting on Tuesday. The Education Review Office Research team also visited us on Wednesday morning, with Sally our board chair, Bernie who is a board member and on the Whaanau Ora attendance team, Lara Sweetman who now works for Raglan Naturally and attendance team and Fiona Gott, the Principal of Te Mata. We shared with the Research team what our cluster of schools are doing to support our students and families in our wider community to come to school. You have hopefully heard my messages about the importance of being at school every day. We are doing better with this so keep up the great work whaanau.

Our much anticipated and now annual event—our fabulous Book Week with the Book Fair from Scholastic is coming up very fast. From Mon 12th June there is some fun events happening during the week including our dress up day and booknic on Wed 14th June. We hope you can join us for this. The PTA will have kai and drinks for sale. See the separate advert for further details.

If your child needs to see the dentist the Mobile Clinic is still in Raglan for a few more weeks before they move back to Hamilton. Please feel free to call them on 021 356260 if you have any questions.

We thank you for your support with our Teacher Only day on Monday and hope you get to enjoy a long weekend. I am attending the Rural Principals Conference in Wellington from Tuesday so looking forward to connecting and learning with other rural Principals. One of our keynote speakers is Peter Jackson so Wow! Will share back!

Next week, the year 7 and 8’s are looking forward to spending the day with other schools at National Young Leaders Day. Having attended this event many times in the past, I always find it reward-ing to see and hear the personal take aways for each child after listening to a range of motivating speakers and presenters. Every child leaves with their own and unique learning from the day.

Our year 6 team are doing a great job of growing and planting their native trees around the school grounds. Tumeke to Jon and Ali for helping them.

Have a ka pai weekend. Ngaa mihi Amanda and staff
