Principal’s Update

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, it has been a very productive and special week. We celebrated Support Staff week. Our amazing team that help across all areas of our school. Our Support Staff—Jess, Lorna, Amberlee, Jennie, Amy, Jessy, Jaime, Lou, Dave, Dan, Imanueli, Liz Mac, TK and our volunteers...so many to list. We thank you all! The Tumuaki from the four schools in the rohe were invited to Poihakena Marae to welcome the surfers and their crew for the WSL. It was wonderful to be a part of this special event.

It was great to see the students enjoying Kura Awa again this week. We will be trying Kura Awa after lunch in the subsequent visits this term. We also had a visit from Constable Tom who reminded the Juniors about Road Safety and gave our PCT Chal-lenge team a ‘Pep’ talk about the upcoming competition.

Football tournament—with the wonderful weather we have had the team had plenty of practice and showed their tremendous football skills today. Well done to our Year 3 and 4s.

Pink Shirt Day—there have also been some important messages this week, which are ongoing messages. This year’s Pink Shirt Day theme is about lifting each other up and creating a safe, welcoming school for everyone. Students took part in class activities about kindness and respect, and practised ways to be friendly. A reminder from our learning with Harold. We also celebrated kindness, what is kindness, sharing kind statements.

Thanks for the support with our Teacher Only Day on Monday. We have a big day planned with an amazing Doctor of mathematics teaching, Dr Jo Knox facilitating our day. Te Mata School and Te Akau School teachers will be joining us. I hope you have a tremendous weekend. I will be watching Imanueli play rugby apoopoo (tomorrow).

Ngaa mihi Amanda

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, I have heard lots of great stories about camp. It was great to see everyone giving it their best. We think Finlay Park has great facilities and is a great camp venue. Thank
