Principal’s Update

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, it was fortunate that we had good weather for the school athletics. It was great to see the students doing their very best in all of the events and encouraging each other. A notice for the Inter School athletics will be sent home to those children who are eligible for the Inter School athletics day next Friday.

Staffing for 2026—we have some exciting happenings in place for 2026. We have received some additional teacher staffing from the Ministry for 2026. This allows us to put in place a Learning Support Co-ordinator plus provide teacher led Maths learning support groups. Ali McCartie is going to do this in 2026 so she will not be teaching the Senior Room next year. Ali’s role will also involve Classroom Release Time for the Middle and Senior Room teachers and that will be her role 4 days a week. Travis is excited to have a year in the Senior Room next year. We have employed Julia Fuchs for the Middle Room in 2026. Robyn will continue in the Junior room next year but on Thursday and Friday Liz Amoore will be her release teacher. Miss Cate will occasionally come back for relief teacher cover for sick days etc.

Our teacher aides for 2026 will be Jess Otton, Amy Robbs, Jaime Munkenbeck, Lou Davis, Amberlee Walker and Jessy Ridley. Jennie will continue with Before and After School Care. Jane Hook has decided to resign from her teacher aide role. We thank Jane for her dedicated service to our students and wish her all the best for her new endeavours.

Our caretaker—we are delighted to say that Dan Harrison is going to take over from Richard in December with the pool and the caretaking role and Monique will be also doing pool monitoring. Dave Brown will be doing the Raglan bus run. That is the staffing for 2026.

School Disco—this year the Seniors have voted for the 1980s to be the theme of the disco! Children can dress up in outfits from the 1980s or in anything they like. Hunt out your fluros and rock t-shirts for the 80s flashback.
