Principal’s Update
Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, welcome to week 9’s newsletter and welcome back to Ali. It is full steam ahead with our school Production. Tickets are on sale by emailing Lorna at the office, giving us a ring or coming into see us at the office. You should have received a permission slip with organisation for next week. Please can these permission slips be returned on Monday so we can get everyone to Te Uku Memorial Hall for practices. Thank you for getting items together for children’s costumes. Check out the tumeke art work advertising our school production next week.
Raffle—thanks to Dan Harrison we have a raffle for a Lone Star Voucher, 5 t-shirts and two yummy Lone Star salad dressings. $5 a ticket. Drawn on the night of the Production. If you manage to sell tickets for this over the Matariki weekend let me know.
As Matariki arrives I always see this as an important time for whaanau. It is a time to gather together and play. Playtime isn't just about fun and games—it's a powerful tool for building strong family bonds and enhancing communication. Research shows that purposeful play within families has remarkable benefits. It helps develop essential skills in children, fosters trust, and brings family members closer together. So, next time your little one asks, 'Mummy, will you come play with me?' consider saying yes.
And this is an important opportunity for some down time as a family too, so please make time to rest in the weekend so that everyone is well for next week’s Production. We have had a lot of sickness the last few weeks and we really want everyone to be able to participate. If you are concerned about the health of your child and do not think they can participate, please keep in contact with us, because we will need to do some juggling of roles and it would be good to give our understudies some notice.
Have a great long weekend.
