Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, I hope you have had a great week. We have had an excellent week of technology learning, structured literacy and mathematics. You may have seen in the news that the minister is providing schools with specific maths resources for the next two years. We have already been using Prime Maths to support student learning and we have opted in to use this resource after a successful trial over the last 18 months, along with a resource called Numicon. These resources complement our strong mathematics and statistics teaching.
Planning for 2025—the board, staff and I are planning now for 2025. Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see included in our annual plan for 2025. We're committed to fostering an environment that supports academic excellence, cultural engagement, and well-being for all our students. We value your feedback and ideas as we shape our plans for the future. Please feel free to reach out with any thoughts or suggestions.
Well done to Bella for representing Waitetuna School at Group day last Friday. It is Waitetuna School’s turn to host Group Day next year so we are hoping you are already planning ahead to have a lamb, calf or goat. We are also considering having a Lamb Creche at school so lambs can be looked after and have their midday feed at school. Isn’t that exciting!
Kura Awa started up again with Jane taking a group to our local awa (river) for some hands-on learning and testing. A big thank you to Jane for stepping up to lead this initiative while Matua Travis recovers from his knee surgery. As we know this excursion is a fantastic opportunity for our tamariki to connect with our local environment and continue engaging with our unique local curriculum. They were involved in testing the water quality, observing the local flora and fauna, and continuing to appreciate the Waitetuna awa and it’s importance in our community.
And an official welcome back to Matua Travis after surgery. As it is a short week next week there will be no newsletter.
Have a wonderful long weekend. I do hope the weather forecast is better than it is currently saying, as I am heading to Muriwai for a Fijian community event.
Stay safe and see you next week.
Ngaa mihi Amanda and staff.

New Zealand Shake Out
We participated in the Shake Out on Thursday. Everyone practised getting under their tables/desks so they know what to do if there is an earthquake when we are in class.
