 Principal’s Update

Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, it has been great to have some lovely sunshine so the tamariki could practise for our school athletics, which is to be held next Wednesday. You are welcome to join us.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all our tamariki to demonstrate the school values, while having a great time. We're kicking off the competition next Wed 12 November, with the sprints starting around 11:30 am. Please ensure your child arrives at school ready for a day of fun, sportsmanship, and sun. They should have: a clearly named drink bottle, a sunhat and sunscreen (we will have some), a packed lunch with plenty of healthy energy-filled kai, suitable footwear for running and jumping if they prefer to wear shoes. We look forward to seeing the incredible effort shown by all. We will have a half-hour lunch break at about 12.45pm and then the students will finish competing after that. And if students qualify, they will receive a notice for the Inter School Athletics event for the 21st Nov.

The Junior Room have been tracking a turtle as part of their Science learning this term. Hopefully you have heard your child talking about this. They are supporting their turtle by doing rubbish clean ups. They did a great job picking up rubbish this morning.

I wanted to share a wonderful example of the flow on effect of our amazing Living Curriculum. Danielle Marquand, a past student, received “Excellence in Environmental Awareness” award at Raglan Area School Senior Assembly. Well done Danielle for continuing to grow your strength in this area.

Quiz Night Tickets Now On Sale!

Don't forget to secure your tickets for the highly anticipated Waitetuna School Quiz Night—a big fundraiser. This will be a brilliant night of fun, rivalry, and community spirit. Check out facebook for a sneak peek at what’s on offer. All funds raised go directly toward enhancing our school resources. We look forward to your support. And remember if you know of someone who can donate something for the event please let us know.

You may have seen in the news that the curriculum that came out for English and Maths was quite different to what we expected. We will be taking our time to work through this as teachers are busy on assessments. The Science, Health and P.E and Social Sciences drafts are out and we have until the end of term 1 to give our feed-back. We are concerned about some of the content. In the coming months I will share how you can give your feedback too! Have a wonderful weekend.
