Principal's Update
Kia ora Waitetuna Whaanau, what a great Purple day we had. Purple Day is a worldwide event and serves as a platform for individuals affected by epilepsy to share their stories, connect with others, and advocate for better access to treatment, resources, and support. Through education and community engagement, Purple Day aims to reduce stigma, improve public understanding of epilepsy, and ultimately improve the quality of life for people living with the condition. We certainly achieved this. Thank you for all of your support.
Property update—New Playground—phase 1. Over the last 18 months, I have been completing funding applications to support us in getting a replacement playground. The current playground has been in for 20 years. The Senior leaders last year planned with me all of the different types of playground equipment they would like to see included in the new design. Local company Playground Creations helped us develop a design that included all these elements. So with this design, I was able to successfully get funding from Trust Waikato, Gallagher and Meridian to go ahead with phase 1. They start work on this on the 15th of April, the first week of the school holidays so please note that this area will not be in use for most of the school holidays.
Additional teaching space—over the last two years during consultation the need for an extra space where we can have additional small group teaching, gatherings and hui has come up. I have also been busy putting together funding applications for this and we are now on track to have this space built late in the year. It is a portable building that will be set permanently in the space between the playground and the Senior Room. It is a tiny room as this is the most affordable option.
Raglan Surf Lifesaving—a thank you– the Senior leaders and I will be making crispy chicken wraps as a fundraiser to thank the Surf Lifesaving team.
WE NEED YOU! Two long-serving members of the PTA are stepping down and the continued funding support that the school receives from the PTA is something I am sure you will agree needs to continue. So please can you help—we need a new Secretary and a new President. Come and talk to Robyn and Amanda to learn more. Have an enjoyable, relaxing Easter break.
Ngaa mihi Amanda and staff
